Cross River Bank Embeds Ripple's RLUSD Into Its Core Banking Platform for 24/7 Settlement
Published October 17, 2026, 00:12 PKT. Based on Cross River Bank's official press release distributed via BusinessWire on October 15, 2026 (primary source), Ripple's announcement on X the same day (primary), and secondary reporting by FFNews, KuCoin News, CryptoAdventure and FXStreet through October 16, 2026.
Cross River Bank, a Fort Lee, New Jersey-based technology infrastructure platform for embedded financial services, announced on October 15, 2026 that it is integrating Ripple's U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin RLUSD into its proprietary Core Operating System (COS), with transactions supported on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), a public blockchain. The deal makes RLUSD part of the bank's regulated payments infrastructure, letting fintech companies and payment networks settle intraday, move dollars across borders, and convert between fiat dollars and RLUSD without building their own blockchain systems.
RLUSD goes into Cross River's Core Operating System
Cross River said the integration connects RLUSD to its COS through a single API, so fintech clients get stablecoin transfers alongside the ACH transfers, wire payments and real-time payment services the bank already offers, according to the press release. The goal is a new settlement option for payment networks: issuers and acquirers gain greater flexibility to settle intraday and reduce settlement latency, the announcement said. Cross River has previously built stablecoin payment infrastructure linking blockchain transactions to regulated banking services, and the release frames the Ripple deal as an extension of that work onto the XRP Ledger.
Fintechs get a single API for dollars and RLUSD
For businesses using the platform, the practical change is that blockchain payments sit inside the same API they already use for dollar transfers, Cross River said. A fintech can move a customer between U.S. dollars and RLUSD, then push the funds out over a wire or an ACH transfer, without maintaining separate integrations for crypto and traditional rails, according to the announcement. Cross River's head of fintech banking Adam Goller said the partnership removes the complexity of using several providers to move money globally and makes payments simpler. RippleX executive Markus Infanger said the connection brings the stablecoin into the established banking systems businesses already run on, per KuCoin News' report on the announcement.
XRPL settles in 3 to 5 seconds, around the clock
The announcement leans on the XRP Ledger's settlement profile: transactions typically finalize in 3 to 5 seconds at a fraction of a cent, and the ledger runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with more than $1.3 trillion in value settled on it to date, according to the release. That is the pitch for cross-border payments and treasury movements that today wait on banking hours. RLUSD itself is purpose-built for institutional use, and crypto-media reports covering the deal put its market capitalization above $2.4 billion, with more than $1 billion of that issued on the XRPL. The rollout is phased: the service is initially available only in limited U.S. states, and neither company has announced a timeline for broader availability.
Banks keep stacking stablecoin rails
The Cross River deal is the latest in a run of bank-level stablecoin integrations. Ripple posted the announcement from its official @Ripple account on October 15, saying RLUSD payments are becoming part of the banking infrastructure fintechs already use. The move lands alongside Ripple Prime's expansion of 24/7 trading products and follows other institutional RLUSD adoption, including Standard Chartered's custody setup and LMAX collateral arrangements, both previously covered by MABOnChain. For a bank whose business is being the plumbing behind fintechs, adding a dollar stablecoin to the core system treats crypto settlement as one more rail, not a separate product line.

A firmware update does not repair the weak seeds; affected users must move funds to newly generated wallets.
