Celestia's Eden Launch for AI Agents Sends TIA to an 11-Month High
Published October 17, 2026, 09:56 PKT. Based on Crypto Briefing's October 16, 2026 report on the Eden launch (primary source), secondary reporting by AMBCrypto and TokenPost, price data observed directly on Binance and CoinGecko.
Celestia launched Eden on October 16, 2026, an EVM-compatible chain built for autonomous AI agents, and TIA has surged to its highest price in 11 months in the two trading days since. Binance's TIA/USDT pair gained about 24.5% in 24 hours to $0.7537 with roughly $46.9 million in spot volume, and hit an intraday high of $0.7652 on October 17, according to Binance market data. CoinGecko's trending data put TIA's 24-hour gain at 24.6% at $0.76, making it the second most searched coin of the day, with a market cap of about $747 million. The move extends a recovery that saw TIA touch $0.633 on October 11, its highest level of 2026, before the Eden launch provided a fresh catalyst, TokenPost reported.
Eden: an EVM chain built for autonomous agents
Eden is a testing ground for what Celestia calls "agentic commerce," a world in which AI agents handle payments, trading and fund management on-chain with minimal human involvement, Crypto Briefing reported. The chain runs on the Evolve Stack and handles its own execution and consensus, leaning on the Celestia mainnet for exactly one job: data availability, the public record that proves what happened. Eden supports 100 millisecond block times, ten blocks a second, and lets applications sponsor gas fees, so an agent does not need to hold a balance of TIA before doing anything useful. Smart contracts can reach 128 kilobytes in size, giving developers more room for complex on-chain logic, according to the report.
TIA is the gas token
TIA is Eden's native gas token, so every transaction on the new chain draws on demand for it, Crypto Briefing reported. That direct link between the new chain's usage and the token is the core of the bullish read on the launch: Eden is explicitly built to send real traffic to the Celestia mainnet and to measure how much blockspace demand autonomous agents might actually create. Celestia has also positioned Eden as a way to study how quickly and cheaply low-friction payments can move as agent use grows. Options exchange Derive added a second data point for Celestia's data-availability business around October 8, when its V3 redesign moved core settlement and margin verification to Ethereum while using Celestia as the data-availability layer, CoinStats reported.
Botfun, the first experiment
Eden's first closed-beta project is Botfun, a platform where agents issue tokens and trade them around narratives that other agents generate: one bot writes a story, another mints a token about it, and a third decides whether to buy, Crypto Briefing reported. The platform relies on the x402 protocol for transactions, and agents can also make inference calls directly on-chain, meaning they can query AI models as part of their on-chain activity. During the beta, Eden briefly ranked among the top x402 networks by transaction count. Celestia calls Eden an experiment, and the report cautions that systems where bots issue and trade tokens around AI-written narratives could produce strange market behavior that nobody fully anticipates.
The rally: TIA hits an 11-month high
TIA traded between roughly $0.58 and $0.62 on October 15, jumped toward $0.71 on October 16 as Eden went live, then pushed to $0.7652 on October 17, according to Binance hourly candles. The rally still leaves the token far below its $20.85 all-time high, roughly 96% underwater from the 2024 peak, and it follows an October 11 surge to $0.633 that came with a 45% jump in open interest and a 213% increase in daily trading volume, TokenPost reported. The broader backdrop is technical work on the base layer: Celestia reported an October 1 Fibre benchmark of 3.07 terabits per second across 120 validators, and September brought the Sustainable Blob Economy proposal that rethinks how blob data is priced, according to the same report.
The risk: profit-taking and an October 31 unlock
Not all of the flow looks like patient accumulation. On October 16, Celestia's spot exchange Netflow climbed to a record $2.2 million, meaning more tokens were deposited into exchanges than withdrawn, a pattern that has historically raised selling pressure, AMBCrypto reported, citing Coinglass data. Momentum indicators still lean bullish: the token's positive ADX read 31 against a negative index of 7, and the Aroon Up line sat at 100%, which the report read as sustained buying pressure pointing toward a possible $0.80 target, with $0.50 as the level to watch if buyers lose control. A scheduled supply event adds to the caution: about 5.58 million TIA tokens unlock on October 31, 2026, according to Tokenomist data cited by CoinStats. For now, the metrics to watch are transaction counts on Eden, the volume of data flowing back to the Celestia mainnet, and whether projects beyond Botfun join the network.
