PYTH Surges 18% as Pyth DAO's 100% Revenue Buybacks Kick In

Editorial digital-art illustration in the CoinTelegraph style: a giant glowing oracle eye made of green candlesticks over a dark trading floor, radiating streams of price data, a mechanical hand scooping gold coins from an order book into an iron vault, a green price chart bursting upward, deep navy and charcoal tones with violet and gold neon highlights, dramatic comic-book shading, 16:9 wide composition.

Pyth Network's PYTH token jumped 18% to $0.094 on October 15, 2026, topping CoinGecko's trending-coins chart, as the Pyth DAO's new 100% revenue buyback rule began channeling all product income into open-market purchases of the token. The rally came exactly one week after the DAO approved proposal OP-PIP-136, known as the "100% Rule," on October 8, directing 100% of product revenue received by the DAO toward monthly open-market PYTH repurchases, according to CoinDCX.

The 100% Rule meets the market

Live Binance data showed PYTH trading at $0.0939 at 16:53 UTC, up 15.5% in 24 hours, with a session high of $0.1009 and a low of $0.0801. Quote volume reached about $21.6 million in the 24-hour window, and the day's candle printed roughly 208 million PYTH in volume, well above the roughly 128 to 129 million traded on each of the two prior days, according to Binance public data. CoinGecko's trending API put the 24-hour gain at 18.5% at a price of $0.0947.

The bid has a mechanical driver. Under the rule ratified on October 8, the DAO's Pythian Council executes standing monthly buybacks under a single authorization, replacing a December 2025 framework that capped buyback spending at one-third of the treasury's non-PYTH balances and required a separate community vote every month, according to crypto-economy.com. To avoid disrupting spot order books, individual orders cannot exceed $25,000 and execution prices cannot deviate more than 5% from prevailing quotes, CoinDCX reported. Tokens acquired flow into the DAO Reserve, which holds roughly 42 million PYTH.

The revenue behind the bid

The buyback program is funded by a real cash flow. Pyth's annual recurring revenue reached $11.49 million in September 2026, up 86% quarter over quarter from $6.16 million, according to CoinStats citing the network's quarterly update. The network counts 276 paying accounts, and a record 129,255 users accessed Pyth's Terminal in September. The products feeding the buyback pool include Pyth Pro, which generated $9.68 million of the Q3 total, Pyth Indices at $1.81 million, Listing as a Service, and the Data Marketplace, CoinEdition reported.

Mike Cahill, chief executive of Douro Labs, a core Pyth contributor, said institutions are paying for Pyth's feeds "because the product is better," according to CoinEdition. The first purchases under the new framework were executed on September 30, crypto-economy.com reported, building the reserve before the October 8 vote made the policy permanent.

The May 2027 cliff and the chart

Traders are weighing the buyback bid against a known supply overhang. CoinDCX flagged a 2.125 billion token vesting cliff scheduled for May 2027, a supply event that current monthly buyback volumes may struggle to offset on their own.

On the chart, PYTH has cleared the $0.08148 resistance level, which must now hold as support to keep the path toward $0.13021 open, according to CoinStats. A failed breakout would shift attention back to $0.05589. The token formed a golden cross between its 50-day and 200-day moving averages in September, and CoinCodex named PYTH its coin of the day for October 15. Open interest in PYTH derivatives stood at $62.93 million, up 61.78% over 30 days and near the $70.11 million period high, CoinStats reported.
