NEAR Jumps 7% as Business Launch Targets Private Crypto Treasuries

By MABOnChain Desk · Published · Updated · 4 min read

Editorial digital-art illustration in the CoinTelegraph style: the NEAR Protocol blockchain network powering a private business treasury dashboard, a glowing teal and black network of chain links connecting Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and many other blockchains to one central shielded vault, silhouetted company teams approving payments on a large dashboard while payroll documents stay hidden behind a translucent privacy veil, auditors viewing a clear ledger on a second screen, a rising price chart in the background, deep navy night palette with gold and teal highlights, cinematic painterly lighting, dramatic 16:9 composition, no text.

Published October 21, 2026, 10:05 PM PKT. Based on NEAR Protocol's launch announcement on X on October 20, 2026 as reported by Stocktwits on October 21, 2026 (primary source, via reporting), Binance NEAR/USDT spot data for October 21, 2026, and NEAR Governance proposal HSP-029 as reported by ad-hoc-news on October 21, 2026 (secondary sources). NEAR was last analyzed on MABOnChain on October 13, 2026, when it fell 12% in a liquidation wave, so this is a new development, not a repeat of that story.

NEAR rose about 7% on October 21, 2026, trading at $5.31 on Binance spot at press time, a day after NEAR Protocol launched NEAR Business, a private crypto treasury platform for teams. Binance spot data put the 24 hour gain at 7.10%, with a session high of $5.451 and a low of $4.819, on about $176.4 million of NEAR/USDT quote volume. CoinGecko put the wider market picture at $5.33, up 7.65% over 24 hours, with a market capitalization of about $6.98 billion and about $1.34 billion of trading volume across venues. Stocktwits reported the rally at more than 10% during the session, and noted it came after NEAR fell more than 6% on Tuesday in a broad market slip, so Wednesday's move recovered the prior day's drop rather than extending a steady climb.

What NEAR Business does: payroll, swaps and treasuries behind a privacy veil

NEAR Business lets crypto teams pay employees and vendors, swap assets and allocate capital across more than 35 blockchains from one dashboard, with every move approved under rules the team sets, according to NEAR's announcement on X on Tuesday as reported by Stocktwits. Supported networks include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Base, Arbitrum, Cardano, XRP and Dogecoin, among others, and teams can send payments to many recipients at once, set approval roles and sign transactions with hardware wallets such as Ledger. The platform is built for foundations, digital asset treasury companies, funds, family offices and Web3 companies, and it is only available via invites as NEAR onboards a small group of teams, according to Stocktwits.

The selling point is confidentiality with an audit trail, not secrecy from regulators. NEAR said the platform keeps company finances confidential from the market while staying legible to auditors, and framed the point directly: confidentiality is about controlling who can watch your operations, not about hiding them, according to Stocktwits. On a public blockchain, anyone with a block explorer can see salaries, vendor payments and treasury balances, and NEAR Business keeps those details hidden from the market while letting auditors and board members see the full record. The pricing undercuts enterprise custody directly. NEAR pointed out that enterprise custody platforms can start at over $18,000 a year with annual contracts and weeks of setup, while NEAR Business is free to start, with no subscription or per-seat fees, according to Stocktwits. NEAR said it covers gas for the first 1,000 actions each month, with standard network fees after that, and swaps carry a 0.35% fee.

The issuance vote: HSP-029 would cut new supply from 2.5% to 1.6%

The second catalyst opened the same day as the launch. A House of Stake vote opened on October 20, 2026 on proposal HSP-029, which would reduce NEAR's annual maximum issuance rate from 2.5% to 1.6% over 24 months, in stages, according to NEAR Governance as reported by ad-hoc-news. The proposal keeps the existing 90/10 split between staking rewards and the treasury, and says the change would result in 11.8 million fewer NEAR tokens issued over two years and 66.1 million fewer over six years, while projected staking yield would decline from 5.268% to 3.372%, according to the same report. The vote is scheduled to end on November 2, 2026, according to ad-hoc-news.

The vote is a proposal about future parameters, not an immediate change to the live network. As of October 18, 2026, the mainnet still used a maximum annual emission rate of 2.5%, and a House of Stake vote alone could not activate the lower rate, according to CryptoTicker as reported by ad-hoc-news. That distinction matters for the price story. Traders are pricing a slower future supply schedule and a lower future staking yield, not a supply cut that has already taken effect, and the November 2 result, plus whatever activation path follows it, is the next dated checkpoint.

The Intents engine behind the rally: $32 billion in cumulative volume

NEAR Intents, the cross-chain swap system at the center of NEAR's recent run, passed $32 billion in cumulative volume in the third quarter of 2026, while cumulative fees exceeded $52 million, according to NEAR Protocol as reported by ad-hoc-news. More than $8 million was captured for NEAR buybacks, and lifetime fee capture reached 16.4% as of October 6, 2026, according to the same report. The September pace was already a record: Intents handled a record $4.8 billion of swaps in September, according to the Motley Fool, and part of the resulting fees funds NEAR token buybacks, so more trading activity means steady buying pressure, according to the same report.

Exchange-traded fund flows add a quieter footnote, not a driver. The Bitwise NEAR spot ETF, the first U.S. spot exchange-traded product tracking the token after its September 29 launch, according to the Motley Fool, recorded a daily net inflow of $2.61 million on October 19, 2026, according to CryptoNews as reported by ad-hoc-news. The next day ran the other way, with a $2.54 million net outflow on October 20, 2026, according to SoSoValue data as reported by CryptoCompass, against $85.93 million in cumulative inflows. One day of inflow and one day of outflow do not establish a cause for the price move, and the fund's net assets are only about 1.27% of NEAR's market capitalization, according to CryptoCompass.

What to watch: the $5.43 ceiling, bearish sentiment and the invite list

The technical picture at press time was constructive but unresolved. NEAR traded above its 7-day, 20-day, 50-day and 200-day simple moving averages on Binance spot earlier on October 21, according to Blockchain.News, but the MACD histogram collapsed to exactly zero near the $5.43 resistance level, with the MACD line and its signal line both reading 0.2318. A histogram at zero marks a convergence point rather than a confirmed cross, according to the same report, so the next session will clarify whether momentum diverges higher or begins rolling over. Retail sentiment, meanwhile, stayed in the extremely bearish zone on Stocktwits even as the price rallied, with chatter at low levels over the past day, according to Stocktwits, a reminder that this rally has not yet convinced the crowd that was selling on Tuesday.

Three dated checkpoints decide whether Wednesday's move holds. The first is the $5.43 level, where the earlier session stalled. The second is the House of Stake vote result on November 2, which would confirm or reject the slower issuance path. The third is NEAR Business itself: whether onboarding expands beyond the small invited group, and whether foundations and treasury companies actually route payroll and treasury flows through it, rather than treating the launch as a headline. If Intents volume keeps compounding and Business onboarding widens, the fee capture and buyback loop has a fundamental leg to stand on. If both stall, Wednesday's gain looks like a rebound inside a market that fell more than 6% the day before.

Solana Alpenglow Goes Live on Mainnet in Biggest Consensus Switch Since Launch

October 21, 2026 · 4 min read

Solana has activated Alpenglow, its first major consensus upgrade, on mainnet on October 21, 2026, replacing the TowerBFT voting system it has used since launch with a new protocol called Votor that targets transaction finality in about 150 milliseconds, down from roughly 12.8 seconds. CryptoBreaking, citing the Solana Foundation Alpenglow dashboard, put activation at about 1:54 pm UTC, in epoch 1064, while the dashboard reading at press time showed finality of about 6.6 seconds and throughput of about 4,721 transactions per second, a reminder that the 150 millisecond figure is a target to converge toward, not an instant day one measurement. The second Alpenglow phase, Rotor, which would replace the Turbine block propagation system, does not activate with Votor and remains unscheduled.

OCC Finalizes First GENIUS Act Stablecoin Rule, Sets January 18, 2027 Start Date

October 21, 2026 · 5 min read

The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has issued the first final rule implementing the GENIUS Act, setting reserve, redemption and capital standards for payment stablecoin issuers under its jurisdiction, effective January 18, 2027. Issuers must hold reserves at least equal to their outstanding stablecoins and generally redeem within two business days, while the agency dropped a proposed presumption that affiliate rewards deals violate the law's yield ban, leaving existing rewards programs to case-by-case review. The rule covers national banks, federal savings associations, federal branches and nonbank firms seeking federal qualified issuer status, with a $5 million capital floor, while anti-money-laundering rules will follow in separate rulemaking with the Treasury.

Aave Backs Tokenized SpaceX Shares as Collateral With Strict Guardrails Ahead of 2.43 Billion Share Unlock

October 21, 2026 · 5 min read

Aave risk adviser LlamaRisk has backed listing tokenized SpaceX shares, trading as SPCXc, as collateral on Aave V4's Equities Hub on Base, but only under the hub's toughest terms: a 55% collateral factor, a 6.5% maximum liquidation bonus, a 1,000 basis point risk premium and a 37,000 token supply cap worth about $5.8 million. The caution reflects SpaceX's four months of public trading history and a lock-up calendar that releases 2.43 billion shares, 84% of the current float, between October 26 and December 8, 2026. SPCXc would be collateral-only, with USDC the only borrowable asset, and larger liquidations would depend on redemptions or derivatives hedges because onchain depth is thin.

October 21, 2026 · 4 min read

Wallets linked to the April 2026 Drift Protocol exploit sent about 18,800 ETH, worth roughly $46 million, into Tornado Cash on October 21, 2026, according to blockchain tracker Onchain Lens, taking the two-day total to 44,510 ETH, worth about $109 million. The move follows the roughly $61 million first tranche on October 20 that MABOnChain reported, and Arkham Intelligence labeled wallets still held about 56,569 ETH, worth roughly $138 million, after the latest deposits. Drift has attributed the April attack, which cost about $295 million, to a North Korean threat group, and victims are claiming through a DFX recovery token scheme that started with a pool of about $3.1 million.

France Proposes MiCA Rules to Hold Crypto Platforms Liable for DeFi Access Failures

October 21, 2026 · 4 min read

France's Treasury, AMF, Banque de France and ACPR published a joint response on October 21, 2026 to the European Commission's MiCA review consultation, proposing that crypto platforms which actively connect customers to DeFi protocols should face liability for certain client losses when they fail to vet protocols or ignore known risks. The proposal would also move supervision of significant crypto firms to ESMA, lower the 15 million daily active user threshold for significant status, and rework MiCA's stablecoin categories after zero asset-referenced tokens were authorized. The Commission's report to EU lawmakers is due by June 30, 2027.

UK High Court Lets 16,000 Victims Appeal Ruling on 61,000 Seized Bitcoin in Qian Zhimin Case

October 21, 2026 · 4 min read

The UK High Court has granted about 16,000 Chinese fraud victims permission to appeal its October 12, 2026 ruling that Chinese law governs property claims over more than 61,000 Bitcoin seized in the Qian Zhimin money laundering case, according to PANews reporting on October 21 that cited Caixin. The appeal keeps alive the victims' bid to claim a share of a stash worth about 3.8 billion pounds, after the original ruling said their claims must be tested under Chinese law rather than English property law. Lawyers at the follow-up hearing also discussed litigation costs from the earlier dispute and how individual applicants can continue or withdraw their claims.

Zcash Jumps 10% as NU7 Locks In Mainnet Activation for 25-Second Blocks

October 21, 2026 · 4 min read

Zcash jumped about 10% on October 21, 2026, trading near $1,260, after developers set the mainnet activation height for NU7, the network upgrade that cuts Zcash block times from 75 seconds to 25 seconds. The activation height is the block number at which every node switches to the new rules, and NU7 pairs the threefold speedup with a Network Sustainability Mechanism that routes 60% of each block's transaction fees into a reserve paid back out over time. ZEC has gained roughly 45% in the past week and about 138% over 30 days, pushing its market capitalization back above $20 billion for the first time since 2016.

Ireland Moves Another 500 BTC From Clifton Collins' Seized Wallets to Coinbase Prime

October 20, 2026 · 4 min read

A wallet linked to convicted Irish drug trafficker Clifton Collins moved 500 BTC, worth about $41.5 million, to Coinbase Prime on October 20, 2026, the fifth 500-BTC tranche recovered from his long-thought-lost Bitcoin fortune this year. Blockchain intelligence firm Arkham Intelligence flagged the transfer; about 2,500 BTC have now moved from the wallets in 2026, while roughly 3,500 BTC worth about $290 million remain. Collins bought about 6,000 BTC in 2011 and 2012 at roughly $5 each, printed the private keys on paper and hid them in a fishing rod case, and lost access in 2017. Ireland's Criminal Assets Bureau, with help from Europol's European Cybercrime Centre, began opening the wallets in March 2026.

ZachXBT Says 87% of FreedomXMR Inflows on Hyperliquid Are Illicit Funds

ZachXBT traced more than $20 million in inflows above a $10,000 review threshold to ransomware payments, cryptocurrency exploits, malware and social engineering attacks, including the September 2026 incidents at DCENT Wallet, Fetch.ai and Axelar, plus an October exploit on the Gamdom gambling platform. He also alleged the service's operator sourced Monero liquidity through KuCoin, identifying more than 3,000 deposits from associated addresses.
