Saylor Declares a New Bitcoin Bull Market, Predicts Return Above $100K
Published October 14, 2026, 11:20 UTC. Based on Strategy's weekly 8-K filing disclosed October 13, 2026, with reporting from Blockonomi and BigGo Finance on Michael Saylor's October 13 Bloomberg Television interview.
Strategy executive chairman Michael Saylor said on October 13 that he believes Bitcoin has entered a new bull market and will climb back above $100,000. Speaking to Bloomberg Television, Saylor said the year-long slide that pulled Bitcoin from its October 2025 record high is over and argued that changing monetary conditions, new regulations and growing investment from large institutions would power the next leg higher, according to Blockonomi and BigGo Finance, which both covered the interview.
The $100,000 call on Bloomberg TV
Bitcoin was trading near $83,000 during the interview, about 34 percent below its $126,251 peak from October 2025, according to Blockonomi. Saylor said the bottom came in just below $60,000 and that the recovery into the $80,000 range, where the price has traded since mid-August, marks the start of a new cycle. He told Bloomberg that demand for digital credit products would grow as banks adopt Bitcoin, and that his long-term outlook assumes Bitcoin grows at an annual average rate of 20 to 30 percent over the coming years, while stressing that forecast is his own and not a guaranteed return, according to BigGo Finance. A September 18 analysis cited by the outlet valued MSTR common equity at about 0.86 times the value of its bitcoin holdings, a valuation gap the report linked to Strategy's stalled large-scale buying earlier this year.
250 more coins, 848,250 total
In a Monday filing, Strategy disclosed that it bought 250 bitcoin between October 5 and October 11 for about $21.5 million at an average price of $86,194 per coin, the company's fourth consecutive weekly purchase, according to BigGo Finance. The acquisition brought total holdings to 848,250 BTC, an all-time high for its treasury, acquired for roughly $64 billion at an average cost of $75,444 per coin. The latest buy was funded mostly by $21 million in proceeds from sales of MSTR common stock, the filing said. As of October 11 the company held $640.5 million in cash and $4.88 billion in its USD reserve. MSTR shares rose 1.43 percent to $156.54 on October 12, according to the report.
The $192.4 million STRC buyback against $21.5 million in bitcoin
During the same reporting week, Strategy repurchased 1.93 million shares of its STRC preferred stock for $192.4 million, about nine times what it spent on bitcoin, according to the filing as reported by BigGo Finance. The company has described the buybacks as aimed at reducing dividend obligations under the Digital Credit Capital Framework it adopted on June 29. STRC shares had fallen far below their $100 par value, trading under $75 at their lowest point, and the repurchase program helped lift them to a $99.66 close on Friday. Since July 20, Strategy had spent about $950.8 million on STRC repurchases, more than 2.5 times its bitcoin spending over the same period. On October 28, shareholders will vote at a special meeting on a proposal to change four preferred stock series so dividends accrue on every calendar day, including weekends and holidays, while a separate $1 billion common-stock buyback authorization remained unused, according to the report.
The $2.8 billion MSCI decision due Friday
MSCI is expected to announce on October 16 whether to adopt new index inclusion criteria that could remove Strategy from its global equity indexes because its primary business, in the index provider's assessment, is asset accumulation rather than operating activities. Saylor criticized the potential move in the interview, saying MSCI's position has been disappointing and that the index provider is applying biased value judgments about digital assets, according to BigGo Finance. JPMorgan estimated in November 2025 that exclusion could affect up to $2.8 billion in funds that track the indexes. Saylor has said Strategy should be viewed as an operating company rather than a holding company, a point he has pressed publicly since the review began.
Schiff's 3.7 percent yield counterpunch
Bitcoin critic Peter Schiff pushed back on the bullish narrative, citing a negative 3.7 percent year-to-date bitcoin yield for MSTR common stock and noting that Strategy's bitcoin per share had fallen in 2026, which he described as a failure under the company's own performance measure, according to BigGo Finance. MSTR shares are down more than 50 percent over the past year as Bitcoin declined, even though the stock has gained nearly 1,000 percent since the company's first bitcoin purchase in August 2020, the report said. Separately, Strategy announced on October 14 that it had secured the @Strategy handle on YouTube for a dedicated channel hosting earnings calls, investor Q&A sessions and conversations with Saylor and chief executive Phong Le.
