Ripple is moving deeper into institutional finance. The blockchain company announced on October 6, 2026 that its prime brokerage arm, Ripple Prime, will provide multi-asset prime brokerage, clearing and financing services to funds managed by Brevan Howard, the global alternative investment manager overseeing about $35 billion.

The expanded agreement

Under the expanded agreement, Brevan Howard funds gain access to Ripple Prime's services across traditional and digital asset markets through one unified platform, according to the Business Wire announcement. The companies framed the deal as a response to growing demand from large investment managers for prime brokerage that works across both market types inside a regulated, enterprise-grade framework.

Alan McGroarty, Brevan Howard's group chief operating officer, said the growing connection between digital and traditional markets has increased the need for institutional-quality digital asset infrastructure. "Ripple has built a differentiated platform that we expect will provide our investment teams with increased operational ease and capital efficiency," McGroarty said in the announcement.

A relationship that predates the deal

The agreement extends a commercial relationship that already ran deep. Brevan Howard-affiliated funds participated in Ripple's $500 million strategic investment round in 2025, which valued the company at $40 billion, according to Cointelegraph. Ripple Prime itself was formed after Ripple acquired institutional prime broker Hidden Road for about $1.25 billion in 2025, and Noel Kimmel, the unit's president, called Brevan Howard's trust "recognition of our strong competitive position and cross-asset capabilities."

Ripple Prime's institutional push

The deal lands in the middle of Ripple Prime's rapid institutional build-out. In August 2026, the unit raised $275 million through a senior note offering to fund expansion into prime brokerage, financing and multi-asset clearing, and it launched U.S. equity swaps the same month, crypto.news reported. Credit rater KBRA assigned Ripple Prime a BBB rating earlier this year, noting the business is still scaling and diversifying into equity prime brokerage and swaps. The firm also secured a $200 million debt facility from Neuberger Berman to expand institutional margin lending, and added Hyperliquid as its first direct integration with a decentralized finance venue, according to The Block.

Brevan Howard, which specializes in global macro and digital assets, serves sovereign wealth funds, corporate and public pension plans, foundations and endowments. The partnership gives Ripple Prime one of the largest hedge-fund clients yet for its cross-asset platform, and gives Brevan Howard a single provider for brokerage, clearing and financing as digital and traditional markets keep converging.
