Official Trump Token Crashes 12% as Democrats Sweep Congress in Midterms
Published November 4, 2026, 10:00 PM PKT. Based on CoinGecko market data captured November 4, 2026 at 4:51 PM UTC (primary source), Bitcoin.com News' November 4, 2026 report (secondary source), and CoinDesk's November 4, 2026 market report (secondary source).
Official Trump ($TRUMP) fell about 12.6% in 24 hours to $1.39 on November 4, 2026, as Democrats swept both chambers of Congress in the U.S. midterm elections, leaving the president's memecoin among the day's biggest losers while the broader crypto market recovered from its election night dip. CoinGecko data captured at 4:51 PM UTC put the token at $1.39, down 16.3% over seven days, with a market value of about $392 million and 24 hour trading volume of about $214 million. The token traded in a 24 hour range of $1.41 to $1.60, and at $1.39 it sat just above its all time low of $1.37 set August 13, 2026, and about 98% below its all time high of $73.43 from January 19, 2025. The slide stood out because it ran against the market: Bitcoin ($BTC) was up about 3.5% over the same rolling period at about $79,869, according to a November 4 market update, while Trump-linked tokens kept falling. The token, and Trump Media ($DJT) shares, are often traded as bets on the president's political fortunes, Stocktwits noted, which is why a Democratic sweep hit them while the rest of crypto bounced.
The election night slide that Bitcoin shook off
The selling started as results pointed to a Republican defeat late on November 3, according to Bitcoin.com News, which reported on November 4 that Trump-linked tokens crashed by as much as 11% before partially recovering, but failed to rebound like Bitcoin ($BTC) as Democrats won control of both the Senate and the House. As the results came in, World Liberty Financial ($WLFI) dropped 10% to an all time low, while Official Trump ($TRUMP) and Melania ($MELANIA) plunged 8% and 11% respectively, Bitcoin.com News reported. By the morning of November 4, Official Trump ($TRUMP) remained down 6% over 24 hours at $1.49 and Melania ($MELANIA) was down almost 3% at $0.072, with 24 hour trading volume near $130 million for Official Trump ($TRUMP) against only about $6 million for Melania ($MELANIA), according to the same report. CoinDesk's November 4 market report told the same story from the other side of the trade: decentralized finance tokens led the rebound after the midterm dip, while Official Trump ($TRUMP) fell 7.1% and World Liberty Financial ($WLFI) lost 5%, and Trump Media ($DJT) shares were down 6.5% in premarket trading. Stocktwits reported that the Associated Press called the Senate for Democrats late on Tuesday and the House early on Wednesday, that Trump Media ($DJT) stock dropped as much as 7.2% in premarket trade, and that Official Trump ($TRUMP) fell 7.6% in 24 hours to below $1.50, even as retail sentiment on the token stayed in the bullish zone with chatter at high levels. A later November 4 update put Official Trump ($TRUMP) at about $1.44, down 10.1% over 24 hours, and Melania ($MELANIA) near $0.07167, down 6.3%, against Bitcoin ($BTC) at about $79,869, up 3.5% over the same rolling period. Finbold, using CoinMarketCap data, reported Official Trump ($TRUMP) down 7.13% at $1.47 with about $40.2 million wiped from its market value, from $455 million to $414.77 million, and World Liberty Financial ($WLFI) down 4.89% at $0.048 with its market value falling about $120 million, from $1.65 billion to $1.53 billion. The percentages differ across outlets because each snapshot was taken at a different hour; the direction is consistent in every one of them.
A November 2 bounce that faded, and a dinner contest still running
The midterm slide erased a short lived bounce from two days earlier. BingX reported a 10.73% increase in Official Trump ($TRUMP) on November 2, 2026, attributing the surge to gala invitation incentives and a competition organized by Keeper wallet for token holders, according to CoinStats' November 4 summary. The token then declined nearly 2% on election day itself, CoinStats reported, before the midterm results drove the deeper November 4 fall. Binance spot klines showed Official Trump ($TRUMP) opening November 4 at $1.587, after closing November 3 at $1.586, and trading near $1.39 by late afternoon UTC in a daily candle still open at the time of writing, with about $15.6 million in spot volume on the day. The token's own website is still running a contest that could matter to its holder base: the president and three yet to be announced VIP guests are set to attend an exclusive dinner with 185 of the coin's top investors at the Trump National Golf Club in Northern Virginia on November 22, with the contest running through November 12, according to CoinStats' summary of the coin's website. The site also says the token is not intended as an investment opportunity. The political backdrop carries a longer tail: Reuters reported that Democrats captured the House and Senate and are expected to investigate the Trump administration, family and allies once seated, and the incoming Congress takes office in January with control of congressional committees. In August, Senators Elizabeth Warren and Richard Blumenthal called for the Securities and Exchange Commission to investigate the president's memecoin, CoinStats noted. None of that is a verdict on the token's price path, and the midterm results alone do not explain every dollar of the move, but the contrast with the broader market rebound is the signal: on a day crypto recovered, the tokens most tied to the president's political fortunes did not.

Hong Kong Passes Crypto Tax Reporting Law, Adopting OECD Framework From 2027
Hong Kong's Legislative Council passed the Inland Revenue (Amendment) (Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework and Amended Common Reporting Standard) Bill 2026 on November 4, 2026, adopting the OECD's Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework for crypto tax reporting. Crypto service providers must collect customer and transaction information from 2027, with the Inland Revenue Department exchanging that information with partner jurisdictions starting in 2028, while the amended Common Reporting Standard takes effect in 2028 with first exchanges in 2029. The law creates no new crypto tax, it creates reporting: exchanges, brokers, dealers and certain crypto ATM operators face registration, due diligence, recordkeeping and reporting duties, and the government says exchanges will run on a reciprocal basis with data confidentiality and security as a premise.
Circle Reports $865 Million Q3 Revenue, Highlighting Binance $100 Million Investment and USDC Growth
Circle Internet Group reported third quarter 2026 total revenue and reserve income of $865 million, up 17 percent from a year earlier, with net income from continuing operations of $226 million and adjusted EBITDA of $317 million, in results announced November 4, 2026. The headline growth was powered by a $182 million presale of ARC ($ARC), the token for Circle's new Arc blockchain, while core reserve income fell 8 percent to $658 million as the return on reserves slipped. The release also highlighted Binance's $100 million equity investment in Circle and a renewed and expanded partnership to promote USD Coin ($USDC) across Binance's global platform, with an emphasis on emerging markets, alongside $13.9 trillion in USDC onchain transaction volume in the quarter, up 49 percent year over year.
Judge Says CFTC Likely Lacked Authority Over Kalshi Stock Perps, But Lets Trading Continue
U.S. District Judge Valerie Caproni ruled on November 3, 2026 that the Capital Markets Alliance is likely to prove the Commodity Futures Trading Commission lacked authority to approve perpetual futures on individual stocks, writing that the contracts appear to be swaps under the Securities and Exchange Commission, not security futures. She still denied the group's emergency bid to block the contracts, because it had not shown harm that was actual and imminent, so Kalshi's four stock perpetuals, on Qualcomm, McDonald's, Amgen and Costco, kept trading, with about $7.85 million in combined 24 hour volume as of the morning of November 4. The CFTC must answer the group's preliminary injunction request by November 6, with the group's reply due November 10, a schedule that could halt the contracts within weeks of launch.
Credit Mutuel Arkea Confirms Cyberattack Behind Suspected $133 Million Crypto Theft
French cooperative bank Credit Mutuel Arkea confirmed on November 4, 2026 that it was the target of a cyberattack that enabled fraudulent transactions, after blockchain investigator ZachXBT identified the bank as the suspected victim of a theft exceeding $133 million from accounts on centralized crypto exchanges. The bank said the incident is now under control, that it has no financial impact on clients, and that it notified the relevant authorities, but it did not disclose the amount stolen or whether the funds were originally held in traditional currency or cryptocurrency. Blockchain analytics firm Bitquery traced $108.8 million in USD Coin ($USDC) withdrawn from Kraken, Crypto.com and OKX accounts over 21 hours on November 1 and 2, 2026, and said the blockchain data alone cannot prove the bank was the victim. Crypto.com said it blocked funds linked to the incident; Kraken and OKX did not immediately respond to CoinDesk.
