Moonbirds (BIRB) Surges 185% to Top Upbit Gainers as Trading Volume Hits $626 Million

Moonbirds (BIRB) traded near $0.176 on October 24, 2026, up about 185% in 24 hours, according to CoinGecko data captured at 04:52 UTC, with 24-hour trading volume above $626 million against a market value of roughly $50.2 million. The token ranked first on CoinGecko's trending list, and hours earlier it had topped the daily gainers board on South Korean exchange Upbit, where its won pair gained 92.23% to 198 won, according to Coinotag's October 24 report on the Upbit session. The two percentages describe different pairs at different times, and the gap between them is itself part of the story: the rally was still accelerating through the morning, with OKX's price page showing BIRB near $0.101 and up about 94% in 24 hours at 00:36 Singapore time, before CoinGecko's later snapshot put it near $0.176.
The Upbit session: BIRB tops a 298-token board
Coinotag reports that at 12:00 KST on October 24, BIRB stood at the top of Upbit's daily gainers ranking with its 92.23% rise to 198 won on turnover of 299.7 billion won, making it one of the venue's most actively traded tokens despite a unit price of just 198 won. Bitcoin, by contrast, barely moved on the same board, printing 108.62 million won, down 0.24% on the previous close. The rest of the top of the board was also small-cap: Superform (UP2) ranked second, up 32.44% to 129 won, and Irys (IRYS) ranked third, up 29.13% to 133 won. Across all 298 Upbit-listed tokens, 120 rose and 146 fell, so decliners outnumbered advancers even under a board led by a near-triple-digit gainer. None of the top ten carried an investment-warning designation, the caution flag Upbit attaches to tokens it deems higher risk, so every name on the list traded without restrictions, according to Coinotag. The shape of the session, a hot gainers column over a negative breadth line, marks it as rotation into small caps rather than a market-wide rally.
The numbers: volume more than twelve times market value
The headline figures are extreme even by small-cap standards. CoinGecko's snapshot put 24-hour volume at about $626.4 million against a market value of about $50.2 million, meaning the token turned over more than twelve times its own market value in a single day. OKX's price page, updated October 24, put circulating supply at 285 million BIRB out of a fixed maximum of 1 billion, with 15,570 holders and liquidity of about $1.42 million on its venue. The speed of the move matters for anyone reading the percentages: CryptoCompass reported on October 21 that BIRB had already surged 36% in 24 hours, with a market value near $18 million at the time, so the token's market value has roughly tripled in about three days. A volume-to-market-value ratio this high, combined with thin venue liquidity relative to turnover, is a classic signature of a fast, exchange-driven spike, and it cuts both ways: the same conditions that carried the price up can reverse it just as quickly.
What BIRB is: from Ethereum owls to a Solana utility token
BIRB is the official ecosystem utility token for the Moonbirds NFT brand, designed to power rewards and incentives on Solana, according to CoinGecko's project description. Moonbirds began as an Ethereum NFT collection, and its intellectual property is now operated by Orange Cap Games, a consumer-focused Web3 studio, according to an overview published by XT.com and cited by CryptoCompass. BIRB launched on Solana on January 28, 2026, with a fixed total supply of 1 billion tokens, according to KuCoin, and Phemex, citing CoinGecko data, reported that the token jumped nearly 70% shortly after launch. The tokenomics allocate 65% of supply to community purposes, including 27% for NFT holder rewards, 12% for ecosystem partners and 10% for value chain incentives, according to AInvest's launch coverage. The distribution runs through Nesting 2.0, a protocol that lets holders lock their Moonbirds, Mythics or Oddities NFTs for 24 months in exchange for monthly BIRB rewards, distributed on the 28th of each month, according to KuCoin. AInvest also reports backing from 1kx, Yuga Labs and Multicoin Capital, and notes that Orange Cap Games generated $8 million in revenue in its second year from its physical collectibles business.
What is still unclear: no fresh catalyst in the record
One honesty note matters for readers weighing this rally. The reporting reviewed for this article contains no fresh Moonbirds protocol announcement, listing notice or product launch dated in the last 48 hours that would explain the spike as a fundamental event. The documented drivers are market-based: a top trending ranking, a top Upbit gainers slot, and turnover far above the token's market value, all consistent with momentum and exchange-led rotation rather than a dated catalyst. That does not rule out a trigger elsewhere in the market, but it means the surge should be read as a trading event first, not as confirmation of a new development in the Moonbirds project. Until a dated announcement surfaces, the verified core of this story is the price, volume and exchange data, and the token's small market value and thin liquidity argue for treating any continuation as unproven.

HTX Bans Russian Users, Adds Russia to Restricted Jurisdictions List
Crypto exchange HTX has added the Russian Federation to the restricted jurisdictions in its Platform User Agreement, barring users from Russia from all of its services, according to the agreement text. Russian clients began receiving notices on October 23, 2026, according to Russian outlets Prime and Bits.media, and reports say affected users have seven business days to withdraw funds before the exchange may restrict withdrawals and block accounts. The move follows similar restrictions by Bitget and MEXC, according to CoinLab, and comes two months after the European Union imposed a transaction ban on HTX under its Russia sanctions package.
Argentine Court Dismisses Milei Criminal Case Over $LIBRA Collapse
An Argentine federal judge dismissed the criminal investigation into President Javier Milei, his sister Karina Milei and nine other people over the February 2025 collapse of the $LIBRA meme coin, after prosecutor Eduardo Taiano asked for the case to be dropped, according to Reuters reporting on court records on October 23, 2026. Judge Marcelo Martinez de Giorgi found insufficient evidence of fraud, ruling that the token's price collapse alone did not prove a scam and that Milei's promotion of the token was a personal act, not an abuse of state power. The ruling closes the Argentine criminal proceedings covered by the order, but it does not reverse investor losses, which Bitcoin.com put at nearly $110 million across more than 40,000 investors.
Netanyahu Orders Blockchain Plan to Prepare for Possible Banking Sanctions
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a Channel 10 interview on October 23, 2026 that he has already asked for a plan to use blockchain technology as part of preparations for possible banking sanctions, according to reporting by i24NEWS, The Jerusalem Post and The Times of Israel. Netanyahu said Israel must prepare an alternative economic system that could keep financial activity running if banks face restrictions, and confirmed blockchain was one of the options under consideration. He did not name any blockchain network, cryptocurrency, government agency or timeline, and the reports describe a contingency plan request, not a launched program.
Initia Halts Its Blockchain and Rollups After Infinimint Exploit Drains About $2.6 Million
Initia halted its layer 1 blockchain and its connected rollups on October 23, 2026 after a security incident, the project confirmed at 15:41 UTC, as blockchain researcher Spreek reported that an attacker used an unlimited token minting flaw to cash out about $2.6 million, with more funds still moving. Analysts at D2 Finance traced the exploit to a transaction that allegedly created 2 million AUSD tokens without sufficient backing, followed minutes later by the release of 1.4 million AUSD from a bridge adapter on Ethereum. South Korean exchange Upbit suspended INIT deposits and withdrawals and warned traders of increased volatility, while Bithumb also issued a warning. Initia has not confirmed the technical cause or a final loss figure.
