Ether ETFs Shed $542 Million in Worst Weekly Outflow Since January

U.S. spot Ether exchange-traded funds recorded $542.1 million in net outflows in the trading week ended October 9, their worst weekly performance since January, according to The Block's analysis of SoSoValue data. The withdrawals extended the funds' losing streak to nine consecutive trading days, a run worth $697.2 million that began on September 29, and dragged total net assets for the category down 10% on the week to $15.71 billion.
ETHA's $477 million week
BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust, the largest Ether fund by assets, accounted for $477 million of the week's withdrawals, about 88% of the category's total, per SoSoValue data. It was the fund's largest weekly outflow since mid-December 2025 and its third-largest since launching in July 2024.
Tuesday was the heaviest single session: $201.9 million in redemptions, all from ETHA, its largest single-day outflow since January 21. That session coincided with the effective date of ETHA's 1-for-3 reverse share split. Grayscale's ETHE posted the second-largest weekly outflow among Ether funds at $31.9 million. ETHA now holds $8.64 billion in net assets, roughly $4.15 billion below its $12.79 billion in cumulative net inflows.
Nine days, $697.2 million
The nine-day outflow run ties the June 17-30 episode as the third-longest losing streak in the Ether funds' history, The Block reported. The record remains a 17-day stretch from May 11 to June 3 that pulled about $900.1 million. The last time the category posted a worse week was the week ended January 23, when the funds lost $611.2 million.
It was also the second straight negative week: $138 million left the funds the week before, with Fidelity's FETH accounting for $74.1 million of that total. Year-to-date net inflows stand at $931.8 million, down from $1.47 billion a week earlier, while weekly trading volume jumped to $5.18 billion from $3.57 billion.
Bitcoin ETFs lose $681 million as Solana's streak snaps
The retreat was not limited to Ether. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs lost $681 million over the same week, and spot Solana ETFs posted $24.8 million in outflows, the largest weekly outflow since those products launched in late October 2025. The Solana redemptions ended a record 14-week inflow streak. Combined, the three ETF categories shed about $1.25 billion in a single week.
Ether breaks below $2,500
Ether traded near $2,491 on October 10, down more than 7% over seven days, breaking beneath the $2,500 level and its 50-day moving average, Blockonomi reported. Trading volume fell 61% on the week to $7.2 billion. Analysts there flagged $2,370 as the next support to watch, with the 100-day average near $2,200.
One data point ran against the outflow tide: crypto analyst Ali Martinez estimated that large holders added about 166,000 ETH and 15,000 BTC in a 72-hour window, suggesting whales were absorbing some of the supply that ETF investors were selling.

Russia Puts Crypto Miners on Lowest-Priority Power Under New Grid Rules

Two Wallets Accused of Gaming PaperTrade's Pricing System on Hyperliquid
On-chain observers allege two wallets are nudging Ethereum's price on Hyperliquid by about $20 million per trade, moving it 0.1 to 0.2 percent, while holding positions worth hundreds of millions on PaperTrade, which prices its synthetic trades off Hyperliquid's order book. PaperTrade's own documentation flags this best-bid-and-offer manipulation as a known protocol risk. No loss figure has been verified and PaperTrade has not publicly responded.
