Bitcoin ETFs Shed $485M in a Day, Wiping Out All of October's Inflows

U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $484.9 million in net outflows on Wednesday, reversing Tuesday's $118.8 million net inflow, according to data from Farside Investors cited by Cointelegraph. The withdrawals were the largest single-day outflow since June 25, when the funds lost $691.7 million.
Bitcoin was trading near $82,700 on Thursday morning, down about 2% over the previous 24 hours, according to CoinGecko.
The $485 million Wednesday
BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust, the largest of the funds, led Wednesday's withdrawals with $207.7 million in outflows, according to the Farside data. Fidelity's FBTC followed with $105.1 million, and the ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF lost $101.7 million. The reversal was sharp: IBIT had taken in $122 million of inflows just the day before.
October's inflows erased
Wednesday's outflows wiped out the $321.6 million in net inflows recorded over October's first four trading sessions, Cointelegraph reported. The funds are now sitting on approximately $163 million in net outflows for the month. The Farside table shows the swing clearly: October 2 brought $189.9 million in inflows and October 6 added $118.8 million, but October 5 was already negative with $89.8 million leaving the funds.
Ether's seventh straight losing day
U.S. spot Ether ETFs also moved in the same direction. The funds recorded $160.9 million in net outflows on Wednesday, extending their losing streak to seven consecutive trading sessions, according to Farside data. Ether funds have shed approximately $569 million since September 29. BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust accounted for $116.1 million of Wednesday's withdrawals, with Grayscale's Ethereum Trust losing another $25.8 million.
The flows matter because spot ETF demand has been a major force in Bitcoin's price action this year. The complex posted a record $2.39 billion in the week of September 21-25, according to SoSoValue data, before the daily flow picture turned choppy in October.
